Prerequisites

Before installing, confirm the following:

• Windows 11 (for WSL2) or macOS 10.15+ (Intel or Apple Silicon)
• Administrator access to your computer account (needed for installing software)
• ~20 GB of free disk space (for environments, tools, and your data)
• Virtualization enabled (Windows only — most modern computers have this enabled by default)
• Internet connection for the initial setup (you can work offline afterward)

No prior Linux or command-line experience required. The steps below include every command you need to copy and paste.
